“三严三实”是习近平总书记对各级领导干部改进作风提出的要求。领导干部要严以修身、严以用权、严以律己、谋事要实、创业要实、做人要实。“三严”是领导干部为人处世用权的重要准则和行为规范，“三实”是领导干部谋事创业做人的基本要求。
“The Three Stricts and Three Honests Initiative” was proposed by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. It calls on officials at all levels to be strict with themselves in self-cultivation, in the exercise of power, and in self-discipline, and be honest when performing official duties, taking initiatives, and interacting with others.

Be Strict in Self-cultivaon, Power and Disciplining Oneself
严以修身是基础就是要加强党性修养，坚定理想信念，提升道德境界，追求高尚情操，自觉远离低级趣味，自觉抵制歪风邪气。
As the foundation, being strict with oneself means strengthening one’s own Party spirit, firmly adhering to ideals and beliefs, improving moral standards, pursuing noble sentiments, consciously staying away from low-level pleasures, and resisting negative influences.
严以用权是核心，就是要坚持用权为民，按规则、按制度行使权力，把权力关进制度的笼子里，任何时候都不搞特权、不以权谋私。
Being strict in exercising power is the core, which means adhering to exercising power for the people, exercising power according to rules and regulations, keeping power in the cage of the systemic check, and never seeking privileges or abusing power at any time.
严以律己是根本，就是要心存敬畏、手握戒尺，慎独慎微、勤于自省，遵守党纪国法，做到为政清廉。
Being strict in self-discipline is fundamental, which means respecting and holding oneself to high standards, being cautious and diligent in self-reflection, and adhering to Party discipline and national laws, so as to ensure integrity and honesty while carrying out governmental duties.

Be Honest in Decisions, Business and Behaviors
谋事要实是前提，就是要从实际出发谋划事业和工作，使点子、政策、方案符合实际情况、符合客观规律、符合科学精神，不好高远，不脱离实际。
As prerequisite, being honest in decisions means planning businesses and work based on actual conditions, ensuring that ideas, policies, and plans adhere to the actual situation, objective laws, and scientific principles, avoiding unrealistic goals, and staying grounded in reality.
创业要实是关键，就是要脚踏实地、真抓实干，敢于担当责任，勇于直面矛盾，善于解决问题，努力创造经得起实践、人民、历史检验的实绩。
As essential, being honest in business means being down-to-earth and diligent, assuming responsibility, confronting contradictions with courage, and problem-solving skills, and striving to create results that can stand up to the scrutiny of practice, the people, and history.
做人要实是保证，就是要对党、对组织、对人民、对同志忠诚老实，做老实人、说老实话、干老实事，襟怀坦白，公道正派。
Being honest in behavior is a guarantee, which means being loyal and honest to the Partyand the people, and our comrades, being truthful, doing honest and pragmatic work, being candid and upright, and objective and impartial.

New History
2014年3月9日习近平总书记在参加十二届全国人大二次会议安徽代表团审议的讲话中，对党员领导干部首次提出了“三严三实”的重要论述，是党持续深入推进作风建设的新举措。此后，总书记在多个重要场合重申“三严三实”的要求。
During the deliberation with the Anhui delegation of the 12th National People’s Congress on March 9, 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping raised the significant concept of “Three Stricts and Three Honests Initiative” for the first time concerning party members andofficials at all levels. This was a new measure in the ongoing effort to deepen the construction of work-style within the Party. Since then, Xi has reiterated the requirements of “the Three Stricts and Three Honests Initiative” on various important occasions.
除此之外，2015年4月10日，中共中央办公厅印发《关于在县处级以上领导干部中开展“三严三实”专题教育方案》，对2015年在县处级以上领导干部中开展“三严三实”专题教育作出安排。一场以“严”和“实”为主要内容，推动中国共产党作风建设继续前行的教育活动拉开了序幕。
On April 10, 2015, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee issued the “Plan for Conducting Themed Education on ‘Three Stricts and Three Honests’ among Cadres at or above the County Level”, arranging for the themed education to be carried out in the same year, with “strictness” and “honesty” as its main content, starting a campaign aimeds to advance the CPC work-style construction.
开展“三严三实”专题教育，不仅充分反映了以习近平同志为核心的党中央对党的性质、党的宗旨、党的理想信念的自觉坚守，而且也为新时代加强党员干部作风建设留下了宝贵的历史经验和深刻的历史启示。
The launch of the themed education on “Three Stricts and Three Honests Initiative” fully reflects the conscious adherence to the CPC nature, purpose, and ideals and beliefs by the Party Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core. It has also left valuable historical experiences and profound historical enlightenment for strengthening the work-style construction of party members and cadres in the new era.
在“四个全面”战略布局中，全面从严治党是关键环节，是落实其他“全面”的根本保障。全面从严治党，包括全面加强党的思想建设、组织建设、作风建设、反腐倡廉建设、制度建设等各个方面。“三严三实”明确了党员干部的修身之本、为政之道和成事之要，是全面从严治党、优化党内政治生态的具体要求，是每一个党员干部都必须坚守的党性底线和立身准则。
Within “the Four-pronged Comprehensive Strategy”, comprehensively enforcing strict discipline in the Party is a key factor and the fundamental guarantee for implementing other “comprehensive strategies”. This includes strengthening ideological construction, organizational and work-style construction, anti-corruption and advocating integrity, institutional construction and all other aspects. “Three Stricts and Three Honests Initiative” clarifies the fundamentals of self-cultivation, governance and achievement, and is a specific requirement for comprehensively enforcing strict discipline in the Party and optimizing the political ecology within the party. It is a bottom line for all party members and cadres to uphold and a guideline for personal conduct.

当今的大学生面临着更加激烈与残酷的竞争，社会所需要的是具有较高的人生理想，具有脚踏实地的吃苦精神，有责任心有事业心的大学生，所以我们要贯彻落实习近平总书记提出的三严三实的内容与要求，从小事做起严格要求自我，只有这样我们才能成为社会主义建设所需要的人才。
Today’s college students face even more intense and ruthless competition. What society needs are university students who have high life ideals, down-to-earth spirit to endure hardships, and a sense of responsibility and career aspirations. Therefore, we must implement the content and requirements of “Three Stricts and Three Honests” proposed by General Secretary Xi, and strictly demand ourselves from small things.
